      July 29, 2020 – Rubber Division, ACS is taking the 2020 International Elastomer Conference virtual – an experience we are excited to bring our great industry!

      As ready and enthused as we were to put on a fantastic in-person International Elastomer Conference, given the number of still-unknown factors related to the containment of the coronavirus, and with our attendees and exhibitors coming from all over the country as well as internationally, it was determined that canceling the in-person event is the safest and most responsible action. The health and safety of all involved with the International Elastomer Conference ultimately outweighed any other considerations and guided our decision to convert the in-person conference planned for Knoxville, TN to a virtual event.

      London – Bill Mortel has been announced as recipient of the 2020 Hancock Medal, the biennial Institute of Materials, Minerals & Mining (IoM3) award for outstanding service to the rubber industry.

      Mortel has served the industry through various roles with the British Rubber and Polyurethane Products Associated, the National Skills Academy for the Process Industries and the institute’s Rubber in Engineering Group since 1992.

      European tire recyclers postpone annual conference

      Brussels - The European Tyre Recycling Association (ETRA) has postponed its 27th annual conference to early September amid the outbreak of Covid-19 (coronavirus) in Europe.

      Originally planned for 25-27 March, the event will investigate market obstacles and new market partnerships after 2020, the ETRA said in a 9 March statement.

      Double whammy for Michelin at Tire Tech awards

      Hanover, Germany – Michelin has won two titles of ‘tire manufacturer of the year’ and ‘tire technology of the year’ at the Tire Technology International Awards 2020 in Hanover.

      The company won the award for tire manufacturer of the year for the second year in a row, recognising its “commitment to produce efficient, innovative and sustainable products.”

      In addition, the judging panel honoured Michelin’s airless concept tire Uptis as the tire technology of the year.
