As the key U.S. conference focused on developing ideas and capitalizing on relationships in tire and automotive markets, Traction Summit is the definitive meeting place to discuss and understand future opportunities for tires.

Returning to northern California, the hub of new tech revolution in automotive, this year's program is focused on evaluating the modern tire industry as it deals with numerous global economic headwinds and opportunities, while discussing innovations to meet a more tech-savvy market.

The 2019 program features top tire and automotive industry experts from throughout the supply chain, including Local Motors, Sumitomo Rubber Industries, Goodyear Innovation Lab, Wards Auto, BYTON, ExxonMobil, Consumer Reports, BKT Tires, REACH, Tyrata, Wards Intelligence, and many more.

Event sessions include: The Future of the Auto Industry, Tires as Part of the Connected World, Voice of the Customer, The Future Facility, Regulations and Legislation, and A New generation of Vehicles, which focuses on advancements in electric vehicles, the growth of subscription services with the passenger market, autonomy, and how autonomous vehicles are changing fleets, trucks, and OTR vehicles.

The keynote presentation, given by Elizabeth Laderman, Economist at The Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco, will discuss how the changing global economy will impact the tire and auto industry in the short and long term. Laderman will delve into tariffs, trade wars, and the potential retrenching of the Chinese economy and how it can create friction and challenges for the U.S. tire and auto industry.

Smithers’ Dr. James Popio, Vice President of Operations – North America, will detail a complete analytical look at the tire industry.

Haig Stoddard, Senior Industry Analyst with Wards Intelligence, will present an examination of production demand, both in the United States and globally, and discuss the status of the autonomous vehicle market and the growth of the electric vehicles.

John Culliton, BYTON’s Senior Engineer of Chasis Attribute Delivery, will discuss the concept of A Living Room on Wheels, balancing consumer comfort demands with range considerations, packaging opportunities, load constraints, and how to balance with full-vehicle ride, handling, and NVH attributes.

Paul Burgoyne, Founder and CEO of REACH, will look at how sensors and 21st century communication devices can benefit the transportation sector.

Traction Summit’s co-location with Smithers’ Image Sensors Auto conference, the premier event focusing on the latest technology, applications, and advancements that are helping move the industry toward autonomous and connected vehicles, opens endless opportunities for attendees to network and build key relationships.
